Digital Camera Lesson
My lesson would be for a pre-school class to help them learn their numbers. I took pictures of things that contained the number of items from one to six. The children would have to cut the pictures out and paste them onto another sheet of paper that would have the numbers 1-6 in boxes. They would have to glue the picture down in the right square and then write out the number in word format. This lesson would work on fine motor skills through gluing and cutting, math through learning their numbers, handwriting and spelling. My screen shot will not submit for some reason but I gave a basic description of what it looks like earlier.

Aimee,
I think that is an awesome idea. I really like how you included so many different outcomes for your students and you covered many different areas in just one lesson. It is important to remember to work on children’s fine motor skills because if they do not get that at a young age they tend to get frustrated in the future when they are not able to keep up because they can not do something and tend to give up so I think it is good that you mentioned that. With your activity how would you make accommodations for children with disabilities? I am taking young children with disabilities right now and everything I do anymore makes me think of ways I can accommodate things for children with disabilities whether it’s giving them less of the same thing, a different concept, just pointing out the numbers etc. But I really like your idea and I think it is great how you worked so many different things into one category. Good Job!

I think your ideas are excellant and can be used in a classroom in many ways. I think it is great that you can incorporate a lesson plan for basically any subject for the topic that you picked! I think the choice of using numbers to create a lesson plan is a great idea. You are able to make your lesson plans more difficult as the year goes on by using harder numbers. Another idea that you could possibly do is incorporate math signs such as addition and subtraction when teaching the lesson plans. I think it is great how you expect so much from your children. I think it is great how you have so many objectives. I also think it is great how you focus on fine motor skills! If children do not start working with their fine motor skills when they are young they may have some difficulties adapting in the future. Overall, i think your theme and lesson plan is really interesting! Great Job....keep up the good work!:)
Aimee,
I think your lesson plan idea is a good one for preschool because we all know that education is becoming stricter and children are expected to be able to do so much more at a young age. Teaching them to count from one to six by using pictures of things they may see on a daily basis is creative and fun for the children! One accommodation that I think I might change about your lesson plan is the part where they have to write out the number. From my experiences with preschool aged children, a majority of them may not be capable of this just yet, but what you could do, is have the correct number under the picture written in dotted lines, that way they can trace the number and also recognize that what they are tracing represents the number of items in the above picture. This is a good lesson because it does work their fine motor skills like you said, as well as, being fun and interesting, but how would you expand on it? What else do you think you could do with the pictures in order to get more out of them? Overall, wonderful job!

I think your lesson is a great idea and it is very age appropriate. It is great how you can incorporate so many different skills into just one lesson. Your lesson works on four different skills that are very important for preschoolers to learn. I also think this lesson is great, because it would not be that difficult for the teacher to create or explain to the students.
I think using numbers is a great idea. There are many different content areas that the students are learning from. I think it's important to work on the fine motor skills as well. Learning numbers is crucial to learn at a young age because it is used to build on for other skills. I also think it is a good lesson because it would be educational for the students and it would not be a big burden for the teacher to develop! Good idea Aimee!
